The Southwind came with one cigarette lighter plug that stays hot all the time.
I added two additional plugs that I wired into the Power Mirror circuit. This circuit is live when the ignition is in ON or ACC. We’ll use these for things like a GPS or charging cell phones while traveling.
I ordered a double plug from Amazon.com.
I was originally going to install it on the lower switch panel, the same place I installed the rear camera and rear light switch. However, I was concerned about the strength of the panel when it came to plugging / unplugging stuff.
I decided to put the plugs on the top of the instrument panel. They would be out of the way, but yet close enough for the GPS or cell chargers.
I drilled two holes in the top of the panel and installed the plugs. I then wired the plugs to the feed wire for the power mirrors.
We use our car GPS when traveling. Sticking it to the windshield is out of the question, so to give the suction cup a good place to stick to, I cut a 4×4 inch piece of plexiglass and neatly bolted it to the top of the center storage compartment. This gives a nice flat surface for the GPS suction cup to stick to.
