I’ve been banned from irv2 because customers attempted to post positive reviews of my product. WARNING – If you post a positive review of a product or service on irv2 but the maker of that product isn’t a paid advertiser on irv2, the moderators will remove those posts and ban the maker of that product for life.
Sadly, since an irv2 moderator has chosen to block me from the irv2 site, I have no choice but to reciprocate and block the irv2 site from here. If the irv2 moderator wishes to re-instate my account, I’ll reinstate the irv2 account and remove this post. Here’s what happened:
As of May 5th, 2021, Waiter21 has been officially banned from the irv2 forum site. WHY? It appears that the moderator (Cliff) didn’t like the question I sent him:
“I sell a small product to the RV community. As per community rules, I do not solicit sales nor discuss my product on the irv2 platform.
Over the past few months I’ve had several happy customers post a review of my product on the irv2 platform. These posting were subsequently removed by a moderator (Cliff). When the customer asked why the post was removed, the Moderator indicated that they were soliciting on my behalf.
The irv2 Mission Statement states: Supporting thoughtful exchange of knowledge, values and experience among RV enthusiasts.
As a former irv2 member, I’d often post a review / recommendation to the irv2 community about a product or service I used and was very happy with it. I’ve never had any of these posting removed on the grounds that I was “Soliciting” for the provider. If irv2 is taking the position that if a member posts a positive review of a product then they are “Soliciting”, then irv2 needs to remove every posting where a member states they are happy with a product or service.
John Mc”
Within a short time of asking the above question, I received notice that I’ve been permanently banned from the irv2 platform and my account was blocked. There’s no discussion, no questions, no explanations, no way for me to respond, nothing. Ironically, even though I’ve been banned, the moderators are still ok with selling my intellectual property on irv2 as none of my 7,000 (plus) posts have been banned or removed and are still available to irv2 members. This started when several of my customers sent me a message that they had posted a positive review of my product on the irv2 platform, but their posting was removed. When my customer asked why their post was removed, they were told by the irv2 moderator (Cliff) that they were soliciting for sales of my product. If you’re happy with a product or service, and you shared this on irv2, is this “soliciting on behalf of the seller” ? I dared ask that question and evidently riled the feathers of one of their moderators (Cliff). I’m now permanently banned from irv2, not a big deal. If I really wanted to spend time on their site, I’d just go as a guest or sign up with a different username.
I want to thank all my Waiter ECC customers for your positive reviews. I’ll continue to strive to provide you with a high quality product that you find useful. And yes, if you’d like to leave a comment or post on any of the forums, Facebook pages, (including irv2) etc, I appreciate it. There’s a long list of RV related links that would be more than happy to have you tell their members about a product or service that you’re happy with and would recommend to a friend.
In conclusion, as one of irv2’s regular and long time contributors, its with great disappointment that I find it necessary to reciprocate and remove irv2 links from my sites. This is a sad decision for me as I once had a very high opinion of irv2 and their ability to provide the community with viable information from their users. This no longer appears to be the case.
