The storage compartments are very large and offer a lot of space. To make a little better use of the large open space, I added a shelf .
I bought an 8 ft section of 12 inch closet wire shelving from the local big box store
Most of the storage areas have a ridge about 6 inches from the top. The factory storage box mounts to that ridge with several screws
I cut the wire shelving so it sits on that ridge. Mount the shelves so the lip points up. this helps prevent stuff from sliding off the shelf.
To secure the shelves, I used the existing screws from each side of the compartment, and placed an oversize fender washer under the screw to hold the shelf in place.
