Slide moving on its own

When I store my Southwind,  I do it with the slide retracted.  However, over the weekend I noticed the slide was out.  When I went into the motorhome to retract it, It wouldn’t retract, and  I could hear a clicking sound every few seconds and I could see the slide try to extend.

Troubleshooting,    The clicking I was hearing was the motor energizing and the brake releasing. The motor wasn’t hot, so it wasn’t being constantly energized. Every few seconds, the motor would energize for a second.

The small control module is located under the fridge.  It was dusty and had some corrosion on it,  This was probably causing the EXTEND relay to intermittently energize.  I also noticed that the self resetting circuit breaker wasn’t inserted into the spade lug connector on one side, possibly creating a bad electrical connection.  This is probably why the slide always seemed to run slower than what it should.  Anyway,  I unplugged the module and the clicking stopped. Time to order a new module.   (Power Gear 14-1098)

A replacement module is available from  Amazon  for $25. HOWEVER,  It is NOT 100% plug and play.

Looking at the slide control switch above the entry door.  The original switch supplies a ground (white wire) to control the relays and move the slide.  However,  the replacement board needs to have +12 volts to energize the relays and move the slide.

Behind the switch panel are several wires,  one of them was a red wire, I believe this is 12 volts to feed some ceiling lights. I verified it was 12 volts on that red wire.  I installed a lug connector tap on the red wire,  then made a short jumper wire to go from that tap to the center feed on the slide switch.  In the photo, you can see where I moved the white wire to an unused terminal on the switch and plugged my new red wire to the center terminal.
